Advanced Facilitator Training

The Advanced Facilitator Training is an intense practicum using the tools demonstrated in the Video Training Series. The scope of what you can expect to get out of this training is enormous and includes:

  • A solid grounding in advanced Shadow Work® facilitation skills, including how to facilitate the four Identity Wound processes.
  • Learning about the deepest wounds that human beings carry and how those wounds manifest themselves in various behaviors.
  • A powerful experience of your own personal growth.
  • Professional facilitating skills that you can apply yourself, at home or in your community.

Participants in this training will receive the manual and links to training videos approximately six weeks prior to course, so they can become familiar with the tools and processes before the training. This training is highly experiential and has a small participant-to-trainer ratio. It involves a great deal of hands-on facilitation time, both in practice situations and in real processes. For those who attend the online version of the AFT, a four-day in-person session will be scheduled after the COVID-19 crisis so participants can be facilitated by the other participants through their own AFT processes.

In order to qualify for the Advanced Training, you must first attend the Basic Facilitator Training. The Advanced Training is the second step to becoming certified as either a Shadow Work Group Facilitator or a Shadow Work Coach. After attending this training, you are eligible to attend the Shame Lifter Training and then the Leader Training and the Coaching Training.

For training dates and costs, see the Calendar of Events.

Brochure for the Advanced Facilitator Training

The Advanced Facilitator Training (AFT) will teach you to facilitate the four Identity Wound processes: the Tombstone, the God-Split, the Predator, and the Good Guy/Bad Guy. You will also learn how to recognize the corresponding Identity Wounds when they show up in participants and in yourself.

The Identity Wounds tend to be the most shameful wounds we carry. This training will give you the chance to see, own, and accept these wounds in yourself, along with the resulting shadow-y behaviors. This can be a painful process. At the same time, we believe that in order to become a really skilled and compassionate facilitator, you need to know and love these parts of yourself.

Our focus in this training will be to familiarize you completely with these wounds and provide you with a solid grounding in the facilitation of the Identity Wound processes. During the first days of the training, you will practice facilitating the different processes with one of the trainers acting as the participant. During this time, you will also be learning to self-facilitate these processes.

During the latter half of the in-person training, you will co-facilitate whole, live processes with your fellow attendees. This means that each of you who attends the in-person training will have the opportunity to do your own personal work in an Identity Wound process facilitated by other trainees, coached by the trainers. For those who attend the online training, a session for facilitating and being facilitated will be scheduled after the COVID-19 crisis.

Your ability to absorb and facilitate the Identity Wound processes will depend on your ability to use the basic Shadow Work tools: splits and triangles, support, metaphors, and boundaries. To prepare for this training, you will want to review your Basic Facilitator Training materials and spend as much time facilitating as you can before the training.

Practicing your BFT skills is so important that we offer two free Pre-AFT Online Classes for people who will be attending either version of the AFT training in 2020.   In these classes, we will assist you in practicing the What’s at Risk Process, the Risk Manager Process and the Switch Process, so you will be ready for the AFT.  There is no charge for the pre-AFT Online Classes.  But in order to join the classes, you must send your deposit for the AFT.

For training dates and costs, see the Calendar of Events.

YOUR 100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE

Unless you are 100% satisfied that this training provides you with immediately useful and practical tools for facilitating the Shadow Work Identity Wound processes, we will, of course, refund your full tuition, no questions asked.

PROGRAM INFORMATION

Schedule:

Schedule for the In-Person Version: The In-Person Training lasts nine days, consisting of four days learning and practicing, one day off, and then four more days facilitating and being facilitated. Daily sessions are 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a break for lunch. Full details are explained in the training packet sent to you upon registration.

Schedule for the Online Version: Classes for learning and practicing will be scheduled when the most people can attend, using a Doodle Poll.  If you enroll in the Online Version and then discover that your schedule prohibits you from attending the classes, and you are not willing to make up missed classes by watching the video recordings of those classes, you may receive your deposit back.
